thinking the good years were all too few.

But my fondest memories were during those years

when all barriers were gone and we shared our tears.

Your unabashed joy would bubble and pour

freely, when I walked through the door.

The smile on your face would melt my heart.

We had been given a brand new start.

I'd prayed for years that this would arise

and the affection I'd craved would materialize.

I never questioned your love again, that's for sure

a love so radiant and so pure.

The Lord does work in mysterious ways

and I'm especially thankful for all the days,

in silence, when we laughed and we cried

up until the day you died.

But mom, in my heart you are not gone.

With every whispering wind you will live on.

I'll hear your voice, I'll see your smile

in the clouds, while I sit for a while.

The sun will shine warm on my face,

bringing me to my happy place

where we will walk hand in hand

in bare feet upon this land.

I'll see your eyes even when it rains

in the sparkling drops on the window panes.

You see mom, you've given more than you've taken

so you shall never be forsaken.

I'll love you forever, I'll love you for always

now and beyond all the rest of my days.
