I'm sorry this is late, I just discovered Heather's passing today. I've kept up with her journey and Hootenannies over the years and know how special she was. I know it is a difficult time, and my condolences go out to you and your family. From the time we meet your mom, and all that i have read about her, she was very much like my mom. They both battled this disease with dignity and were an inspiration to everyone they met. They made sure to enjoy every day!! They also made it their goal to bring much need awareness as well as funds to help find a cure for ALS. I could not say it better than my dad (in message before). Dear Bob and Family I was just made aware of the passing of Heather. She indeed was a wonderful person. Her zest for life even when afficted by the debilitating effects of ALS was amazing. My wife Corinne's journey with this disease mirrored Heather's, She also passed away at the end of February having lived with ALS for 6 years. She got to know Heather at the Hootenanny's and shared Heather's love for music,loved to dance and touched many people. Corinne also was involved in fund raising in the Hamilton area and saw it as a mission to defeat ALS. I know how you feel at this time and it's tough but I am sure those two ladies are enjoying themselves up there. Gary

We were very sorry to hear of Heather's passing. We have so many memories of her growing up. When Heather tried out for a sport, it never failed, it seemed she always made the team...and she certainly deserved it. It has been several years since running into Heather and I remember thinking then how wonderful a person she was. A aura of true beauty surrounded her and it was obvious it came from within. I have such fond memories of Heather. Many of my students over my years at Ayr PS would quietly come into class or leave class early to most willingly have their piano lesson with your mom, Ben, Meghan and Stuart. She was a "mover and a shaker"...so motivated and a sweetheart at the same time. I always loved her funky hair and her contagious laugh. She was a pillar in Ayr and will be hugely missed. Never have I felt so "Safe" as when Heather was accompanying me for a solo. She seemed to know exactly how I wanted to sing the song. No matter what mistakes I made she never missed a beat (unless she had to, to catch up to where I was :-)), but when she did have to adjust, no-one listening would have the slightest idea a mistake had been made. And after...she never mentioned slip-ups unless I brought them up. Then she would admit there may have been a few places she had to scramble to react to my rhythm changes or skipping a beat, or forgetting the repeat... Oh Heather...I never knew anyone like you before I met you...and I'm sure I will never meet anyone else just like you. I bet right now you're accompanying those heavenly choirs of angels...and they've never had it so good.
