Book of Memories for Muriel Jean McCullough

One of my fondest recent memories of my mom is of a day that the two of us spent Christmas shopping together. We left Walmart with 2 overflowing shopping carts, met dad for lunch, then returned to Walmart for round number 2. The entire time, Mom insisted that she was “cutting back this year”! Wherever your favourite memory of mom may have taken place…at the ball field, working at the store – Calbecks, Burford Hardware or the Bridal Shop, at the hockey arena, across the card table, at a family picnic, around a campfire or Christmas tree, I ask that you think of it now, close your eyes & remember with a smile. WOW...I can honestly say that I don't think that I have ever been more proud of my Mom as I was Tuesday night as we wearily dragged ourselves out the Funeral Home door at 10pm. We had been blessed to have been visited by over 600 people during the visitations. What a true testatment to the wonderful person that Mom was. To all those who visited mom in the hospital or at home. To those who sent their prayers & thoughts by phone, texts or in person…thank you for your gift of kindness. To our many friends & family …I don’t need to tell you what a giving & kindhearted lady she was. I’m sure that most of you had a kind note, a treat or a meal delivered at a time of need, an event that she helped you organize or decorate for, can look in your closet & find something that she sewed for you. Thank you for your gift of friendship. Sandy, Teresa, Tom and I have been blessed. We have been raised by one of the most caring women in the world. Her loss will leave a gaping hole in our family but together, we will use our memories of happier days to fill that space & make new ones while Mom watches us from above. We must laugh & carry on. That’s what we promised her we would do. To Mom…be at peace. I miss you. Thank you for everything.

Wayne and the McCullough and Guerney families, We are saddened to hear of Muriel's passing. Distance prevents us from being with you at this time, but you are in our prayers and thoughts today and will continue to pray for you, especially in the next year. As you come to all the "firsts" in life in which Muriel will be with you in spirit may you recall good memories, her vibrant smile and her voice that echoed her smile whenever she spoke.
